What devices does The Flappening support?
The Flappening works on Apple TV (tvOS), Amazon Fire TV Stick, and any modern web browser. The companion control app is available for iOS. Android companion app is coming soon.
Do I need a subscription?
No! The free tier includes 1 board, 3 widgets, and basic settings. The Pro subscription ($4.99/mo or $39.99/yr) unlocks unlimited widgets, multiple boards, AI-powered messaging, scheduling, and Party Mode. The Venue tier ($19.99/mo) adds multi-board management, analytics, and custom branding for commercial use.
How do I pair my board?
When you first open The Flappening on your TV or browser, it shows a 6-character pairing code (like FX-7K2M). Open the companion app on your iPhone, tap "Add Board," and enter the code. Your board will be linked to your account instantly.
Is the content family-friendly?
By default, yes. All content is G-rated. If you want to access PG or R-rated widgets (like bar humor or cocktail recipes), you need to unlock them with a math gate or PIN in the settings. This keeps things safe for households with kids.
Can multiple people control the same board?
Yes! Board owners can invite family members or coworkers with different roles — Editors can change widgets and settings, Viewers can send manual messages. Up to 5 shared users on the Pro plan.
What is Party Mode?
Party Mode generates a QR code that guests can scan to send messages to your board. Great for parties, weddings, and events. You can set it to open (messages go straight to the board), moderated (you approve each message), or AI-filtered (inappropriate messages are automatically blocked).
Does the board make sound?
Yes! The Flappening uses authentic split-flap sound effects recorded from a real vintage Pragotron departure board. You can adjust the volume or mute it entirely in settings.
Can I use this for my business?
Absolutely. The Venue tier is designed for bars, restaurants, offices, hotels, gyms, and other commercial spaces. It includes multi-board management, custom branding, menu board templates, and analytics. Contact us at

How do I cancel my subscription?
For iOS subscriptions, go to your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → The Flappening → Cancel. For web subscriptions, go to Account Settings in the web dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
